Douglas County Fair Unveils 2026 Concert Lineup for Roseburg

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

The Douglas County Fair has rolled out its 2026 entertainment lineup, with three nights of music set for Aug. 6 through 8 at the fairgrounds in Roseburg.

This year’s headline music acts include country artist Aaron Lewis, hip-hop veteran Tone Lōc and country hitmaker Niko Moon. The fair is scheduled for Aug. 5-8, with tickets for the concert shows set to go on sale Friday, March 20, through the Douglas County Fairgrounds website.

Bull riding kicks off the fair Aug. 5

The fair opens Wednesday, Aug. 5, with high-energy bull riding action at 7:30 p.m. in the Cascade Community Credit Union Grandstands.

According to the fair’s announcement, the event is included with fair admission, giving attendees a chance to catch a night of dirt-flying rodeo action without needing a separate concert ticket. It serves as the opening-night featured attraction before the fair transitions into three straight nights of live music.

Aaron Lewis to open concert lineup Aug. 6

Aaron Lewis is scheduled to perform Thursday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cascade Community Credit Union Amphitheater.

Lewis is widely known as the lead singer and founding member of Staind, the rock band that rose to prominence with hits including “It’s Been Awhile” and “Outside.” In his solo career, he shifted into country music, releasing projects including Town LineThe Road and more recently The Hill, which is promoted through his official website.

His appearance gives the fair a recognizable crossover name - one that should draw both longtime rock fans and country listeners.

Tone Lōc brings old-school hip-hop to Roseburg Aug. 7

Tone Lōc is slated for Friday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m. in the Cascade Community Credit Union Amphitheater.

Best known for late-1980s hits such as “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina,” Tone Lōc broke through with Lōc-ed After Dark, which his official website says made him one of rap’s early breakout stars and became the second rap album to top the Billboard 200. His official site also notes that he continues to perform and remains tied to nostalgia-focused touring.

Niko Moon closes out the fair Aug. 8

Niko Moon is set to close out the fair on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 8 p.m. in the Cascade Community Credit Union Amphitheater.

Moon broke out as a solo artist with “Good Time,” which his official website describes as a triple-platinum smash and a No. 1 single tied to his 2021 debut album. His site also highlights his background as a songwriter for acts including Zac Brown Band, Morgan Wallen and Rascal Flatts, helping explain why his catalog blends easygoing country with a polished pop feel.

A little something for everyone

This year’s lineup mixes bull riding, country, hip-hop and a Saturday-night party atmosphere to close out the fair. Whether fairgoers want rodeo action, a rock-country crossover show, old-school hits or a modern country headliner, the 2026 Douglas County Fair is lining up four nights of entertainment in Roseburg.

Roseburg’s Easter Egg Drop Returns April 4 With 5,000 Eggs, Bunny Photos and Prize Raffles

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

Families in Roseburg will have a chance to celebrate the season with the return of the City’s Easter Egg Drop on Saturday, April 4, at Fir Grove Park.

The free event, hosted by Roseburg Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Roseburg Fire Department, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and is open to children ages 10 and younger. Aviva Health is sponsoring this year’s event.

A highlight of the morning will come shortly after 9 a.m., when Roseburg firefighters use a ladder truck to release about 5,000 colorful plastic eggs over the field behind Umpqua Valley Arts. Organizers say the event drew about 350 children in its first year and they hope to continue growing it.

The first 400 children to arrive will be eligible to take part in the egg collection area, where kids can gather one egg of each color: red, orange, yellow, pink, teal and purple - and trade them in for candy or other small prizes. Children who arrive after that can still attend and watch the egg drop, but will not be allowed into the field itself.

City Recreation Coordinator Tracy David said the attendance limit near the drop zone is intended to help keep the event safe and enjoyable for everyone. She said the City is excited to bring the event back for a second year and grateful for the continued partnership with the fire department, along with support from sponsor Aviva Health.

Each child will also receive a raffle ticket at check-in for a chance to win one of several oversized golden eggs. Those golden eggs can be exchanged for themed gift baskets put together with help from local groups and donors. One of the featured prizes includes a Wildlife Safari experience in Winston, with drive-through admission for four people and a close animal encounter selected by the winning child.

Children will also have a chance to meet the Easter Bunny, who is expected to arrive before the egg drop and later pose for photos atop the Roseburg Fire Department’s 1934 Chevy antique fire engine.

Community partners helping with the event include Cascade Community Credit Union, Umpqua Valley Arts and the YMCA of Douglas County.

For more information, Roseburg Parks and Recreation can be reached at 541-492-6899 or by email at parks@roseburgor.gov.

ROSEBURG TIES RECORD HIGH FOR TUESDAY, SECOND WARMEST DAY OF 2026 SO FAR

Article by KQEN News Radio

Roseburg tied the record high temperature for the date on Tuesday and had the second hottest day of 2026 so far.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the mercury reached 78 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport. That tied the record high for March 17th, which was set in 1947. The high was just below the hottest day of the year to this point, which was Monday when the mercury hit 80 degrees.

Roseburg is forecast to tie the record high for the date again on Wednesday with an afternoon high of 80 degrees expected. The record high for March 18th was set in 2024.

Highs are slated to be in the upper 70s on Thursday and cool to the low 70s by Friday. By the weekend, high temperatures are forecast to be slightly below the seasonal norms, with the mid to upper 50s expected.

FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL DIRECTOR OF POLICY

Article by KQEN News Radio

The Ford Family Foundation has announced the future addition of Taylor Smiley Wolfe as its first Director of Policy.

A TFFF release said her hiring will help build the foundation’s emerging strategy to advance systems and policy changes to support rural communities.

Foundation Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer Tim Inman said, “Taylor brings a unique policy-based, data-centered approach to her work and combines it with pragmatic knowledge of the policymaking process”. Inman said, “She is deeply committed to making an impact and approaches her work with humility and care for both her colleagues and the communities she serves”.

Smiley Wolfe has more than 13 years of experience in public policy and government leadership focused on outcomes for families and communities. Most recently, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Tina Kotek. There she helped lead statewide initiatives to improve education outcomes, strengthen behavioral health systems, reduce homelessness and increase the production of homes people can afford.

Smiley Wolfe previously served as Housing and Homelessness Initiative Director for the Governor’s Office, Policy Director for Home Forward, and as Policy Director for the Oregon House Speaker. Over the course of her career, she has helped advance major legislation to improve early childhood and K-12 education outcomes and to increase housing choices and affordability for Oregonians.

The release said her experience working across public and nonprofit sectors to translate policy goals into practical solutions will help advance the foundation’s commitment to strengthening opportunities for children and families in rural Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.

Smiley Wolfe said, “Families know what they need and I am thrilled to join The Ford Family Foundation’s work to amplify their voices and drive the change they want to see for their kids”

Smiley Wolfe will join the foundation’s policy and public affairs team at the end of April.
