New TRACK Trail to Open at Roseburg’s Riverfront Park

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Families will soon have a new way to enjoy Riverfront Park.

The City of Roseburg is adding a new TRACK Trail at the park through a partnership with Oregon Parks Forever and Kids in Parks. The trail is designed to give children and families a simple, self-guided way to explore the outdoors while learning more about nature along the way.

The route is about 0.8 miles out and back. Families can begin at the trailhead kiosk, where activities will be available, or use a smartphone to scan the QR code posted at the site.

Kids who complete TRACK Trail adventures can also log their visits for free through Kids in Parks and earn prizes as they explore participating parks and trails.

A grand opening event is planned for Monday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to noon at Riverfront Park. City staff will be there to introduce the program, answer questions and help families get started with their first trail activity.

The new Roseburg trail is part of a nationwide effort to encourage children and families to spend more time outside through fun, hands-on activities that can be done at their own pace.

The project was made possible through the Kids in Parks TRACK Trail Grant Program, with funding from Oregon Parks Forever in partnership with Kids in Parks.

TRACK Trail Grand Opening

When: Monday, July 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon
Where: Riverfront Park, Roseburg

Lookingglass Fire Receives Emergency Water Donation for Firefighters

The Lookingglass Rural Fire District has received a pallet of emergency drinking water to help support firefighters during wildfire season and other demanding calls.

The donation came through the Anheuser-Busch Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters Program, which works with the National Volunteer Fire Council to provide canned drinking water to fire departments across the country.

For Lookingglass firefighters, the water will be used during wildfire responses, long emergency scenes, training days, and other situations where crews are working in the heat for extended periods of time.

The district also thanked A-B Wholesale, the local Anheuser-Busch wholesaler, for helping coordinate and deliver the water to the station.

Hydration is an important part of firefighter safety, especially for volunteer departments that may spend hours on scene during hot summer conditions. The district said support like this helps keep crews ready and better equipped to serve the Lookingglass community.

The Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters Program has supported volunteer fire departments nationwide by helping provide water during times when crews are facing high heat, long shifts, and difficult fire conditions.

More information about the program is available at nvfc.org/water.

Graffiti Weekend Rolls Into Roseburg With Five Days Of Classic Cars And Cruises

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Graffiti Weekend returns to the Roseburg area this week, bringing several days of classic cars, cruises, show-n-shines, burnouts, poker runs, live music and family events.

The 2026 event runs Wednesday, July 8 through Sunday, July 12, with events planned in Roseburg, Glide, Winston and Canyonville.

The full official event calendar is available at https://www.graffitiweekend.com/calendar.

Graffiti Weekend has become one of Douglas County’s biggest summer traditions. According to the event’s history, Roseburg’s first Graffiti Night Cruise was held on Harvard Avenue on July 10, 1982. What started as a smaller cruise has grown into a multi-day event with activities hosted by different groups around the area.

Many events are free for spectators, while some have registration, parking or entry fees.

Cougar Sightings Reported at Two Tiller-Area Campgrounds

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

TILLER, Ore. - Visitors to the Tiller Ranger District are being asked to stay alert following recent cougar sightings at two area campgrounds.

The Umpqua National Forest said cougars have been reported near Cover Camp and Three C Rock Campgrounds.

Anyone visiting the area should remain aware of their surroundings, keep children and pets nearby and never approach wildlife. Visitors who see a cougar are asked to report the sighting to the Tiller Ranger District office as soon as possible.

The Forest Service recommends remaining calm during a cougar encounter, keeping the animal in view and avoiding running. People should also make themselves appear larger and give the animal room to leave.

For additional information, contact the Tiller Ranger District at 541-825-3100.

Music On The Half Shell Continues Tonight With Paul McDonald And The Mourning Doves

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Music on the Half Shell continues its 2026 summer season tonight, Tuesday, July 7, with Paul McDonald and the Mourning Doves performing at the Nichols Band Shell in Stewart Park.

The free concert begins at 7 p.m.

McDonald brings a soulful, raspy voice and a modern Americana-rock sound that blends Southern rock, gospel influences and singer-songwriter storytelling. Music on the Half Shell describes the group’s performances as raw, honest and powered by a free-spirited energy.

Born in Auburn and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, McDonald began playing guitar as a teenager and was performing local shows by age 16. He later sang in the gospel choir at Auburn University before pursuing music full time.

McDonald performed with Hightide Blues and The Grand Magnolias before reaching a national audience during the 2011 season of “American Idol.” He has since continued recording, touring and performing as a solo artist and with the Mourning Doves.

His latest album, “So Long to the Dark Side,” was recorded with producer Bobby Holland and McDonald’s live band. The album draws heavily from his Alabama roots with elements of gospel, Southern rock and Americana.

Music on the Half Shell is celebrating its 35th year of bringing free concerts to Roseburg. Community members gather Tuesday evenings at Stewart Park to listen to live music, socialize and enjoy dinner on the lawn.

Remaining 2026 Music On The Half Shell Lineup

  • July 14 - Jujuba
  • July 21 - Garret T. Willie
  • July 28 - Bella Rayne
  • Aug. 4 - Jackie Venson

All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are free to attend.

Good Vibrations Brings Beach Boys Classics To Riverbend Live Friday

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

WINSTON, Ore. - The sounds of summer will take over Riverbend Park this Friday as Good Vibrations brings its celebration of The Beach Boys to the Riverbend Live! stage.

The free concert begins at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Riverbend Park Outdoor Amphitheater in Winston. The performance falls during Graffiti Weekend and the Winston Summer Night Cruise, making the surf, cars and California harmonies a natural fit for the evening.

Good Vibrations is more than a group playing familiar Beach Boys songs. The production uses period-inspired costumes, video imagery and a full live performance to recreate the sound and atmosphere associated with the band’s music.

The show features the recognizable vocal harmonies, surf guitar and songs centered around beaches, cars and endless summers. Good Vibrations has performed at venues and events connected with Disney Parks, House of Blues, Hard Rock Casino, Norwegian Cruise Lines and the Tropicana Las Vegas.

The group’s promotional materials describe it as the “Ultimate Beach Boys Tribute” and include an online press kit with additional information about the production.

Riverbend Live! concerts are open to the public at no cost and generally run for about two hours. Those attending can bring lawn chairs or blankets, along with food and drinks. Food trucks are also expected to be available at the park.

Pets and smoking are not allowed inside the concert area.

Good Vibrations is the third performance of Riverbend Live!’s 30th anniversary season. The series continues July 17 with Chicago blues guitarist and vocalist Ronnie Baker Brooks, followed by Cowboy Poetry and Western Music Night on July 24. The season concludes July 31 and Aug. 1 with the Riverbend Live! Youth Theater production of “Into the Woods JR.”

More information about the summer concert series is available at riverbendlive.org
