Fresh headlines, updates, and community info to start the day.
Eyemart Express Reports Cybersecurity Incident Involving Customer Information

Eyemart Express is notifying customers and other individuals following a cybersecurity incident that may have exposed personal and health-related information.
The Texas-based optical retailer said it discovered on February 13 that an unauthorized party had accessed its computer systems the previous day. According to the company, the intrusion was contained and its systems were secured on February 12.
Eyemart then launched an investigation to determine what information may have been accessed and who was affected.
The type of data involved differs from person to person. For some customers, the affected information may include names, dates of birth, vision insurance details and eyeglass purchase or prescription records.
Other individuals may have had more sensitive information involved, including addresses, Social Security numbers, health plan information, eyeglass prescriptions and other personal data.
Eyemart said notification letters have been mailed to affected customers when a valid address was available. Anyone who has questions or believes they may have been affected but did not receive a letter can contact the company at 800-655-4635.
Complimentary credit monitoring is being offered to individuals whose Social Security numbers were involved. Instructions for enrolling are included in the notification letters sent by the company.
Eyemart said it is cooperating with federal law enforcement and reviewing its security training, internal processes and procedures. The company also said it is working to strengthen its safeguards and reduce the likelihood of a similar incident happening again.
Those who may be affected are encouraged to watch their financial accounts for unfamiliar activity and regularly review their credit reports. Free credit reports are available through AnnualCreditReport.com or by calling 1-877-322-8228.
Consumers should look for accounts they do not recognize, unfamiliar credit inquiries or incorrect information such as addresses, birth dates and payment histories. Suspicious activity can be reported to the appropriate credit reporting agency, the Federal Trade Commission or a state attorney general’s office.
T-Mobile Store at Steelhead Run Plaza Closed

The T-Mobile store at 1122 NW Garden Valley Boulevard, Suite 303, in Roseburg’s Steelhead Run Plaza has closed its doors.
Store manager Brocke Ness said the location is operated by a third-party retailer and is being closed as T-Mobile moves toward operating more corporate-owned stores. A corporate T-Mobile location recently opened at the former U.S. Cellular store in Roseburg.
“I want to thank everyone in the Roseburg community who has supported us, trusted us with your service and stopped by our store over the years,” Ness said. “It has truly been a pleasure helping so many amazing customers.”
The final day of operation was Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Castle Fire Grows to an Estimated 1,400 Acres; Recreation Closures Begin Monday

The Castle Fire burning in the Umpqua National Forest has grown to an estimated 1,400 acres as firefighters continue working in steep and rugged terrain.
The lightning-caused fire was active Sunday, July 26, but officials reported generally favorable fire behavior. The fire continued to back slowly against the prevailing winds and move along its flanks, with occasional short runs where terrain and vegetation aligned.
Crews made good progress throughout the day, supported by seven aircraft. Resources assigned to the fire include hotshot and other handcrews, engines, falling modules, water tenders, dozers, masticators, skidders, helitankers, air attack and a helicopter.
Firefighters planned to conduct additional burning operations along containment lines during the evening swing shift.
California Interagency Incident Management Team 3 is scheduled to receive an official briefing at 5 p.m. Monday, July 27, as management of the growing incident expands.
For the safety of firefighters and the public, the South Umpqua Falls Campground and Day Use Area will close under an administrative order beginning at noon Monday.
Dispersed camping and public access will also be restricted along National Forest Service Road 28 between the NFSR 2823 junction and French Junction. Additional closures include NFSR 2823, 2830, 2840, 2800-400 and 2823-500, along with roads in the Little Black Rock and Castle Rock areas.
Several other fires discovered following recent lightning activity have now been listed as contained, controlled or out:
- Grasshopper Fire
- Lone Woman Fire
- Whitehorse Fire
- Rocky Ridge Fire
- Buckeye Fire
- Lyn Fire
- Divide Fire
- OK Butte Fire
- French Fire
- Hershberger Fire
The update was released at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. The accompanying image of the Castle Fire was provided by the U.S. Forest Service.
Warm, Dry Weather Expected in Roseburg Throughout the Week
ROSEBURG, Ore. - Roseburg is expected to see a stretch of warm, dry and mostly sunny weather this week, with afternoon temperatures remaining in the mid-80s through at least Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Medford forecasts a high near 86 degrees Monday. Light north winds are expected to shift to the northwest during the afternoon, with speeds between 5 and 10 mph.
Monday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 55 degrees.
Tuesday is expected to be sunny with a high near 84. Calm morning conditions will give way to north-northwest winds of 5 to 8 mph during the afternoon. Tuesday night will remain mostly clear, with a low around 56.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny with another high near 84 degrees. Skies are expected to clear Wednesday night as temperatures drop to around 53.
The broader weather pattern is expected to remain fairly stable throughout the week. Several weak weather systems may pass near Southern Oregon, but the atmosphere is expected to remain too dry for meaningful rain or thunderstorm activity.
Morning marine clouds could occasionally reach portions of the Umpqua Basin before clearing later in the day. Afternoon winds may also increase slightly as the weak systems move through the region.
Temperatures could climb closer to the upper 80s by Friday before cooling slightly over the weekend.
Fire weather conditions will remain warm and dry, although slightly higher humidity and weaker wind gusts may provide some improvement early in the week. Forecasters said thunderstorm chances remain very low, but they will continue watching a disturbance expected to move through the region Thursday.
No weather watches, warnings or advisories were in effect for Oregon as of early Monday morning.
