Glide Man Dies in Head-On Crash on Little River Road
A 22-year-old Glide man died Friday morning in a head-on crash involving a passenger car and a log truck on Little River Road near Woodview Drive, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
GLIDE, Ore. — A 22-year-old Glide man died Friday morning in a head-on crash involving a passenger car and a log truck on Little River Road.
The crash was reported just after 7:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, near Woodview Drive between mileposts 12 and 13.
According to preliminary information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, John Metianu, 22, of Glide, was driving a silver 2009 Hyundai Elantra northwest on Little River Road when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle. Investigators said the Hyundai crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a southbound log truck.
Metianu was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The log truck driver, identified as Jeffrey Johnson, 54, of Roseburg, was not injured.
Authorities said there were no initial indications that intoxicants were a factor in the crash.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Glide Rural Fire Protection District and the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Next of kin notifications have been made.
