GARDINER, Ore. - The Oregon Coast School of Art in Gardiner will receive $5,000 from the Oregon Arts Commission as part of a statewide grant program supporting nonprofit arts and cultural organizations.

The Douglas County organization is among 317 recipients sharing more than $1.3 million through the commission’s Sustaining Arts Program. The awards were announced Oct. 12.

The program helps support organizations that provide ongoing arts programming, community outreach, and arts services. Funding amounts are determined through a formula that considers each organization’s annual expenses, the number of applications received, and the money available.

The Oregon Coast School of Art was listed in the program’s category for organizations with annual expenses below $150,000. It is the only Douglas County recipient named in the announcement.

The grants cover fiscal year 2027, which runs from July 2026 through June 2027. Individual awards range from $1,000 to $18,000.

Funding comes from Oregon’s general fund and the National Endowment for the Arts through a grant to the commission.

Oregon Arts and Culture Director Amy Lewin said the awards support organizations that contribute to local economies and provide cultural opportunities in communities throughout the state.

The announcement does not identify a specific project or describe how the Oregon Coast School of Art plans to use its award. The Sustaining Arts Program supports ongoing organizational work.

The Oregon Arts Commission operates within Business Oregon and provides grants, programs, and services for nonprofit organizations and artists across the state.
