Free Electronics Recycling Event Planned July 18 In Roseburg
Douglas County residents and small businesses can recycle unwanted household electronics for free during an e-cycle event July 18 at the Roseburg Transfer Station.
Douglas County residents and small businesses will have an opportunity to recycle unwanted household electronics for free later this month.
The Douglas County Solid Waste Department is partnering with St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County and Oregon E-Cycles to host a household electronics recycling event on Saturday, July 18, 2026. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Roseburg Transfer Station, located at 165 W. McLain Avenue in Roseburg.
The event is open to Douglas County residents and small businesses at no cost. Organizers said there will be a limit of seven devices per person or small business.
Accepted items include computers, laptops, tablets, televisions, printers, monitors, keyboards, mice, networking equipment, scanners, fax machines, VCRs, DVD players, cable and satellite equipment, stereo and audio components, servers, switches, routers, hubs, modems, cell phones, cameras, video game systems, power tools, cords, chargers, loose wires, Christmas lights, hard drives and miscellaneous computer parts.
Several items will not be accepted, including loose batteries, hazardous waste, vacuum cleaners, gas-powered tools, large kitchen appliances, microwaves and other glass-containing items, light bulbs and lighting ballasts. Those items should be disposed of through the appropriate waste or recycling channels.
County officials say electronics recycling helps keep old devices out of landfills and reduces the risk of environmental harm from materials commonly found in electronic waste. When not handled properly, e-waste can release toxins and heavy metals into the air, soil and water. It can also contribute to landfill fire risks.
Anyone with questions about the event can contact the Douglas County Solid Waste Department at 541-440-4485.
