Firefighters Stop Small Grass Fire Near Care Facility in Roseburg
Roseburg firefighters quickly stopped a one-acre grass and blackberry fire Wednesday evening near Aviation Drive and Edenbower Boulevard. The wind-driven fire was moving toward a nearby care facility before crews extinguished it.
Roseburg firefighters were called to the area of Aviation Drive and Edenbower Boulevard on Wednesday evening after a natural cover fire was reported nearby.
Crews were dispatched at 6:14 p.m. and arrived to find a fast-moving grass fire being pushed by the wind. The fire had burned about one acre of dry grass and blackberry bushes and was moving in the direction of a nearby care facility.
Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control and finish mop-up at the scene. No injuries or damage to structures were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Roseburg Fire Department used the incident as a reminder that wildland fires can move quickly, especially during dry and windy conditions.
