Fire Near I-5 in Wolf Creek Grows to 5-10 Acres
A grass fire near I-5 in Wolf Creek grew to an estimated 5 to 10 acres Monday evening, with multiple ground crews, Air Attack and Type 2 helicopters responding along Lower Wolf Creek Road.
WOLF CREEK, Ore. - Firefighters are responding to a grass fire burning near Interstate 5 in Wolf Creek that grew to an estimated 5 to 10 acres Monday evening.
The fire was initially reported near northbound I-5 at mile marker 76 and was estimated at about one acre while burning uphill.
By 5:50 p.m., officials said the fire had grown to between 5 and 10 acres and was burning at a moderate rate of spread along Lower Wolf Creek Road.
Multiple ground resources are working the fire, with Air Attack and two Type 2 helicopters assisting crews on scene. An additional Type 2 helicopter was also en route to help with suppression efforts.
Motorists traveling through the Wolf Creek area are being asked to use caution and watch for firefighters, equipment and emergency vehicles operating near the roadway.
Additional information about the fire, including containment and cause, had not yet been released.
