Fire Crews Contain Two-Acre Vegetation Fire Near Roseburg
Firefighters contained a two-acre vegetation fire Tuesday afternoon near Dodson View Road in Roseburg. DFPA said the fire was human-caused, with the specific circumstances still under investigation. No homes or structures were threatened.
ROSEBURG, Ore. - Firefighters stopped the spread of a two-acre vegetation fire Tuesday afternoon near the 200 block of Dodson View Road in Roseburg.
Crews were dispatched to the Dodson Fire at approximately 4:32 p.m. on Sept. 15. Responding agencies included the Douglas Forest Protective Association, Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, Roseburg Fire Department, Sutherlin Fire Department, Lookingglass Rural Fire District and Myrtle Creek Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived, they found the vegetation fire moving slowly uphill. Crews immediately attacked the fire and quickly stopped its forward spread.
The fire has since moved into the mop-up stage, with firefighters working to extinguish remaining hot spots and reduce the possibility of the fire rekindling.
DFPA determined that the fire was human-caused, although the specific circumstances remain under investigation. No homes or other structures were threatened.
Drivers in the area are asked to slow down, watch for fire traffic and give emergency vehicles and personnel enough room to work.
DFPA said no additional updates are expected unless conditions change.
