WINSTON — Drivers and shoppers in Winston should expect temporary traffic changes later this month as the city prepares for emergency sewer infrastructure work near Bi-Mart.
According to the City of Winston Public Works Department, an emergency sewer mainline replacement project is scheduled to begin Feb. 23 and will impact access to both the Bi-Mart main entrance and portions of NW Cary Street off Douglas Boulevard. Crews will replace approximately 310 feet of sewer line using a pipe-bursting method, with the project expected to take about two weeks to complete.
Detours will be in place throughout construction. Access to Bi-Mart will be rerouted via NW Civil Bend Avenue, while traffic attempting to reach NW Cary Street from Douglas Boulevard will be redirected to NW Brantley Drive. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signage and plan for possible delays in the area.
City officials say the emergency work is necessary to address sewer system needs and are asking for patience from the public while construction is underway.
The notice was issued by City Recorder Cindy Sarti on behalf of the City of Winston. For additional information, residents can contact Winston City Hall at 541-679-6739 ext. 203 or visit WinstonCity.org.
