Douglas County Commissioner Incumbents Lead In Preliminary Election Results
Preliminary unofficial results show Douglas County Commissioners Tom Kress, Tim Freeman and Chris Boice leading their races, with Kress and Freeman above 50% and Boice ahead in a five-candidate contest.
ROSEBURG, Ore. — Preliminary unofficial election results show all three sitting Douglas County commissioners leading their races after Tuesday’s primary election.
Tom Kress led the race for Position 1, Tim Freeman led Position 2 and Chris Boice led Position 3. Kress and Freeman each received more than 50% of the vote in their contests, while Boice led a five-candidate race with just under half of the vote.
Position 1
In the race for Douglas County Commissioner Position 1, Tom Kress led with 13,919 votes, or 63.99%. Lorrie Wick followed with 4,631 votes, Nick Mitchell received 2,356 votes and Devlan Sorensen received 731 votes.

Position 2
In Position 2, Tim J. Freeman led with 11,659 votes, or 53.00%. Samantha “Sam” A. Frost received 4,425 votes, Shane Kelly received 3,374 votes and Brandy Stone received 2,442 votes.

Position 3
In Position 3, Chris Boice led with 10,375 votes, or 47.59%. Steve Hammerson followed with 5,300 votes. Andrew John Rosales received 3,290 votes, Kathi Wall-Meyer received 2,020 votes and David “Deuce” Bohn received 718 votes.

What this means: Kress and Freeman each held majorities in their races in the preliminary unofficial count. Boice led Position 3 but was below 50% in a race with five named candidates.
The results remain preliminary and unofficial. Douglas County Elections reported 25,000 total ballots cast and 29 of 29 precincts reporting. Final results may change as election officials complete the remaining steps in the certification process.
