Diamond Lake Campground Opens For Season, New Scan And Pay Rules In Place
Diamond Lake Campground opened today at 1 p.m., with first-come, first-served sites available until reservations begin June 12. Forest-operated sites now require Recreation.gov Scan and Pay instead of cash or checks.
Diamond Lake Campground opened for the season today at 1 p.m., giving visitors another option for camping in the Umpqua National Forest as the summer recreation season gets underway.
Campsites at Diamond Lake Campground will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until reservations begin June 12. Once reservations open, campers can book sites through Recreation.gov.
Forest officials are also reminding visitors that Forest-operated developed recreation sites, including Diamond Lake Campground, will no longer accept cash or checks for first-come, first-served campsites. Instead, campers using those sites will need to use the Recreation.gov app and the Scan and Pay system.
Because cell service is limited across much of the forest, visitors are encouraged to prepare before leaving home. Campers should download the Recreation.gov app, create an account and add a valid form of payment before heading out. Once at the campground, visitors can find an open campsite and scan the QR code at the campground kiosk to pay.

Campers who do not want to use the app, or who do not have a smartphone, can look for concessionaire-operated campgrounds where cash is still accepted.
