Crews Knock Down Garage Fire Off Fisher Road in Garden Valley Area
Central Douglas Fire & Rescue crews knocked down a garage fire off Fisher Road near River Bend Drive within two minutes Tuesday. No one was found inside the home, and no firefighter injuries were reported.
Central Douglas Fire & Rescue crews responded Tuesday afternoon to a reported structure fire in the Garden Valley area after flames were reported coming from the front window of a garage.
Firefighters were dispatched at 12:38 p.m. to a home off Fisher Road, where vehicles were still in the driveway. While crews were on the way, they were told an elderly couple lived at the residence and that it was unknown whether anyone was inside.
An off-duty firefighter also reported a downed power line in the driveway and advised responding crews to use the second River Bend entrance. The firefighter reported that the garage fire had extended into the home.
When initial crews arrived, they found a working fire at a single-story residence and established command. Power lines were down directly in front of the home.
Firefighters made a quick initial attack and knocked down the fire within two minutes of arriving on scene. Crews then searched the residence and found no one inside.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
Central Douglas Fire & Rescue and the Roseburg Fire Department responded with four pieces of fire equipment and four command units, totaling 20 paid and volunteer personnel.
Due to the extent of the fire damage, crews were unable to determine the cause.
Pacific Power, Avista and the Red Cross assisted at the scene.
