Better With YOU Here Color Walk Brings Suicide Awareness, Hope to Myrtle Creek Saturday
Myrtle Creek will host the Better With YOU Here Color Walk on Saturday at Millsite Park, bringing the community together for suicide awareness, hope, connection and a free lunch. The all-ages event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. - Community members will gather at Millsite Park in Myrtle Creek on Saturday for a colorful walk centered around suicide awareness, connection and a simple message: Better With YOU Here.
The Better With YOU Here Color Walk will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Millsite Park, located at 231 Volunteer Way.
Organized by Darlene Chapman, the all-ages event is intended to bring people together while spreading a message of hope and reminding those who may be struggling that they are valued and supported.
The morning will begin with registration and shirt and packet pickup from 9 to 10 a.m. An opening ceremony and guest speakers are scheduled from 10 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the start of the walk at 11 a.m.
A free community lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m., with additional activities continuing through 1 p.m.
Organizers describe the event as a "Hope Walk," encouraging people to participate whether they come with family and friends or attend on their own.
The event is sponsored by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians.
