Balcony Fire At Winston Apartment Complex Contained Saturday
Central Douglas Fire & Rescue crews responded Saturday to a balcony fire at a Winston apartment complex. Residents used fire extinguishers to help control the fire before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.
Central Douglas Fire & Rescue crews responded Saturday morning to a reported structure fire at an apartment complex in Winston.
Crews were dispatched at 11:53 a.m. Saturday, May 23, to the 200 block of Gregory Drive after a fire was reported on a second-story balcony. According to CDF&R, the apartment’s occupant heard smoke alarms sounding and smelled smoke.
Residents at the apartment complex used several fire extinguishers to help control the fire before firefighters arrived.
When the first crews reached the scene, they found light smoke coming from the second-story balcony. Firefighters extended one hose line and extinguished the remaining hot spots.
The fire was contained to the exterior balcony area and did not spread further into the structure.
No injuries were reported among firefighters working the scene.
Central Douglas Fire & Rescue responded with four engines and one command unit. Crews were assisted at the scene by Avista Gas and Pacific Power.
