Adapt Integrated Health Care will host its annual Art of Prevention Art Show on May 13 at the Winston Community Center, featuring prevention-focused artwork by Douglas County middle and high school students.
Adapt Integrated Health Care’s Prevention and Education Team will host its annual Art of Prevention Art Show on Wednesday, May 13, offering the community a chance to see prevention-focused artwork created by Douglas County youth.
The free event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Winston Community Center and is open to community members of all ages.
The showcase features pieces created by middle and high school students from across Douglas County. The artwork uses painting, drawing, and mixed media to explore topics connected to prevention, healthy choices, resilience, and challenges facing young people.

Sidnee Hedrick, Prevention Program Manager, said the event gives young people a meaningful way to share what matters to them.
“Art can be a powerful way for young people to express what matters to them,” Hedrick said. “This event creates space for their voices to be seen and heard while bringing the community together around a shared goal of supporting youth well-being.”
Artwork will be reviewed by community partners, with first, second, and third place prizes awarded in several categories:
- Substance misuse prevention
- Suicide and self-harm prevention
- Problem gambling and gaming prevention
- General prevention and resilience
Attendees will also be able to vote for their favorite entry as part of the People’s Choice Award.
Guests can walk through the exhibit, meet student artists, and enjoy light refreshments during the evening. Adapt is encouraging families, educators, community partners, and others to attend in support of the students and their work.
The Art of Prevention Art Show is designed to highlight youth voices through creative pieces that reflect advocacy, healing, lived experience, and hope within local communities.
