Umpqua Woofstock Expands Mission With New Spring Fair in Sutherlin

SUTHERLIN — Umpqua Woofstock is adding a new event to its growing list of community efforts this spring as the nonprofit prepares to host its first Spring Fair April 24-26 at Oak Hills Golf Club in Sutherlin.

The three day event marks the latest step in the organization’s growth from a local pet festival into a broader nonprofit focused on helping families care for their animals across the Umpqua Valley.

Umpqua Woofstock began as a dog centered community festival in Sutherlin that brought pet lovers together for parades, contests, vendors and family activities. Over time, the event developed into one of the area’s better known pet themed gatherings, drawing support from families, local businesses and animal related organizations.

In 2022, the group formally became a nonprofit under the name Umpqua Woofstock Festival, replacing the former Sutherlin Woofstock Festival name and expanding its mission beyond a single annual event. Organizers say that shift helped broaden the group’s reach throughout the Umpqua Valley while strengthening its focus on keeping pets healthy and helping families facing hardship.

Today, the nonprofit supports pet owners through discounted vaccine clinics, pet supply distribution, food assistance efforts and community partnerships. It also works with organizations such as For the Love of Paws Veterinary Clinic and local food pantries to provide resources for animals in need.

The new Spring Fair grew out of demand from vendors who wanted additional opportunities to gather and sell locally after the success of the Timbertown Christmas Bazaar, according to organizers. In response, Umpqua Woofstock created a spring shopping event designed to give the community more time to connect with small businesses while supporting the nonprofit’s local programs.

The Spring Fair is expected to feature artisan and handcrafted vendors, local businesses, seasonal gifts, home decor, food and a family friendly atmosphere. Organizers said 35 indoor vendor spaces will be available for the event.

“We are so excited to launch this new Spring Fair,” organizers said in a statement. “It’s another way for us to bring the community together while continuing to support local pets in need.”

Proceeds from the event will help fund Umpqua Woofstock’s ongoing programs, including outreach efforts, vaccine clinics and assistance for local families and pets.
