Roseburg’s Easter Egg Drop Returns April 4 With 5,000 Eggs, Bunny Photos and Prize Raffles
Roseburg’s Easter Egg Drop returns Saturday, April 4, at Fir Grove Park. Kids 10 and under can enjoy a free egg drop, raffle prizes, candy, and Easter Bunny photos. The first 400 children can collect eggs for prizes. Sponsored by Aviva Health.
Families in Roseburg will have a chance to celebrate the season with the return of the City’s Easter Egg Drop on Saturday, April 4, at Fir Grove Park.
The free event, hosted by Roseburg Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Roseburg Fire Department, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and is open to children ages 10 and younger. Aviva Health is sponsoring this year’s event.
A highlight of the morning will come shortly after 9 a.m., when Roseburg firefighters use a ladder truck to release about 5,000 colorful plastic eggs over the field behind Umpqua Valley Arts. Organizers say the event drew about 350 children in its first year and they hope to continue growing it.
The first 400 children to arrive will be eligible to take part in the egg collection area, where kids can gather one egg of each color: red, orange, yellow, pink, teal and purple - and trade them in for candy or other small prizes. Children who arrive after that can still attend and watch the egg drop, but will not be allowed into the field itself.
City Recreation Coordinator Tracy David said the attendance limit near the drop zone is intended to help keep the event safe and enjoyable for everyone. She said the City is excited to bring the event back for a second year and grateful for the continued partnership with the fire department, along with support from sponsor Aviva Health.
Each child will also receive a raffle ticket at check-in for a chance to win one of several oversized golden eggs. Those golden eggs can be exchanged for themed gift baskets put together with help from local groups and donors. One of the featured prizes includes a Wildlife Safari experience in Winston, with drive-through admission for four people and a close animal encounter selected by the winning child.
Children will also have a chance to meet the Easter Bunny, who is expected to arrive before the egg drop and later pose for photos atop the Roseburg Fire Department’s 1934 Chevy antique fire engine.
Community partners helping with the event include Cascade Community Credit Union, Umpqua Valley Arts and the YMCA of Douglas County.
