A Roseburg woman was lodged at the Douglas County Jail Tuesday night after police said she admitted taking seven puppies and their mother from a camp near her home on West Stanton Street.
According to the Roseburg Police Department, officers contacted 36-year-old Kayla Raylynn Jones at about 8:42 p.m. March 10 in the 900 block of West Stanton Street.
Police said Jones had initially called Douglas County Animal Control to report finding the dogs at a camp near her residence. Officers were later dispatched to her address for a disturbance involving Jones and her husband over the puppies being at their home.
Later, officers received a report from the dogs’ owner, who said the puppies and their mother had been stolen from the camp. Police said they then contacted Jones, who admitted taking the animals earlier that day.
All eight dogs were returned to their owner, according to police.
Jones was booked on eight counts of first-degree theft and lodged at corrections.
