ROSEBURG, Ore. — Wednesday marked the hottest day of 2026 so far in the Umpqua Valley, with Roseburg setting a new record high for March 18.

According to forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford, the temperature at Roseburg Regional Airport climbed to 82 degrees. That broke the previous record for the date of 80 degrees, which was set in 2024.

The 82-degree reading also made Wednesday the warmest day of the year so far locally, topping the previous 2026 high of 80 degrees recorded Monday.

Climatological data from Roseburg Regional Airport shows a sharp warmup over the past several days, with highs climbing from the mid-50s and 60s earlier this month to 80 on March 16, 78 on March 17, and 82 on March 18.

A slight cooldown is expected heading into the end of the week. Forecast highs for Thursday are expected to remain in the upper 70s, followed by low 70s on Friday. Temperatures are then expected to drop back to around 60 degrees over the weekend, with a chance of showers arriving late Friday night into Saturday morning.

For residents eager for spring, the recent stretch of sunshine has offered an early taste of warmer weather - even if cooler, wetter conditions are set to return.
