ROSEBURG, Ore. — Roseburg saw its hottest day of the year so far on Monday, climbing to 80 degrees and setting a new record high for March 16 at the Roseburg Regional Airport.

According to NOAA daily climate data, Monday’s high reached 80 degrees, topping the previous warmest day of 2026, when the temperature hit 70 degrees on March 7. The 80-degree reading also broke the standing record high for the date of 78 degrees, which had been set in 1959.

The sharp warm-up came after a relatively mild start to March. Daily high temperatures at the Roseburg airport mostly stayed in the 50s and 60s during the first half of the month before jumping into the 80s on Monday.

Roseburg’s average temperature for March 16 was 61.5 degrees, which was well above normal for the date. The overnight low was 43 degrees.

The early spring heat is part of a broader warm pattern affecting the region. The National Weather Service has said high pressure is expected to keep temperatures elevated through the workweek, with inland valleys in southwest Oregon staying unusually warm for mid-March.

For Roseburg, Monday now stands as both the warmest day of the year so far and a new daily record holder, giving the Umpqua Valley an early taste of summer before spring has even officially arrived.
