Details: During an ongoing burglary investigation on 3/10/2026 at the Verizon store on Garden Valley Boulevard, Miars was developed as a suspect. Officers said Miars was on video at Verizon at the time of the burglary and stole multiple phones along with a smart watch. Police said Miars then sold the stolen phones at EcoATM kiosks in Junction City and Cottage Grove later that same day. Miars was located on 3/18/2026 checking in with his parole officer and detained.

Camping

Heather Renee Schuster, 48, cited after officers reported watching her use a shovel to clear a tent spot at The Point on SE Pine Street

Details: Officers watched Schuster use a shovel to clear a spot for her tent, which was already set up at The Point after being cleaned earlier in the day. Schuster's camp was in violation of the time portion of the ordinance. The shovel was seized and Schuster was cited for her first camping offense and for the prohibited tools.
Disposition: Schuster was cited and released, and she took down her tent.

Details: Officers contacted Sarah, who reported her husband, Keith Hammond, was calling her making threats. Sarah said the two of them are going through a divorce and Keith has been increasingly unstable. Sarah said Keith called her and told her he was going to shoot a friend, then go to her house and "she was next." Sarah stated Keith said he was walking to her house from Winchester. Officers located Keith and detained him. At the time he was armed with a handgun. Keith admitted to making threats but denied threatening to shoot her.
Disposition: Hammond was lodged at Corrections.
