Original Winston Summer Nite Cruise Route Restored For 2026 Event
The original cruise route is back for the 2026 Winston Summer Nite Cruise. The restored layout returns cruisers to Abraham and Douglas Boulevard past longtime Winston landmarks. The event is July 11, with registration at Grocery Outlet.
The original cruise route for the Winston Summer Nite Cruise has been restored for this year’s event, bringing the route back to Abraham and once again sending participants down Douglas Boulevard in front of several well-known Winston businesses.
The Winston-Dillard Festival Association announced that the restored route will once again take cruisers past Winston Bi-Mart, Winston Dairy Queen, Johnny’s Drive-In and the DC Farmer’s Co-Op, returning the event to a familiar stretch of town remembered by many longtime participants and spectators.

The cruise route had previously been shortened, but city leaders and festival organizers worked to bring back the original layout for this year’s event.
Winston City Manager, Thomas McIntosh, was described as enthusiastic and supportive of rebuilding cooperation between the city, Winston Police Department, the community and the Winston-Dillard Festival Association. Organizers say that renewed cooperation could help improve registration and bring more people into Winston during the event weekend.
The restored route is also expected to bring more visibility to local businesses along Douglas Boulevard while reconnecting the event with a classic part of the cruise experience.
This year’s Winston Summer Nite Cruise is set for July 11, 2026. Car registration will take place at the Winston Grocery Outlet parking lot.
For many in the community, the return of the original route marks a meaningful update for one of Winston’s signature summer events.
