Mt. Bailey $5,000 Poker Run set for Feb. 14 at Diamond Lake Resort

DIAMOND LAKE, Ore. — The annual Mt. Bailey $5,000 Poker Run returns Saturday, Feb. 14, at Diamond Lake Resort, with organizers confirming this year’s event will move forward as a dual-vehicle poker run due to changing snow conditions in the forecast.

Hosted by the Rogue Snowmobilers, the event traditionally centers on snowmobiling but will primarily focus on wheeled vehicles this year, including side-by-sides, Jeeps, trucks and ATVs. Snowmobiles are still welcome, but riders are being asked to plan ahead and expect variable trail conditions.

Final call for online registration

Organizers issued a final reminder that online pre-registration closes at 5 p.m. today for participants who want to guarantee a dinner spot Saturday night.
Pre-registration is available at:

Dinner tickets and poker hands will still be available in person Friday night at the lodge and Saturday morning at the Activity Center, but space for the Saturday dinner is limited.

Participants are also encouraged to book lodging directly with Diamond Lake Resort by calling 541-793-3333 (ext. 1).

Dual-vehicle format announced

Event coordinators say the decision to open the run to both wheeled vehicles and snowmobiles comes as snow totals remain uncertain heading into the weekend. While more snow fell than expected earlier this week and another storm is forecast, conditions can change quickly.

  • Wheeled vehicles: Any capable 4x4 is recommended in case 12 inches or more of snow arrives before the event.
  • Snowmobiles: Riders are welcome, but should plan on trailering sleds to snow at minimum to the South Shore sno-park or Pizza Parlor staging area. Riding directly from lodging may or may not be possible depending on conditions.

Organizers say the sled route is expected to be roughly 20 miles, though sections could include limited pavement if snow coverage changes. Participants uncomfortable with mixed conditions are advised to plan accordingly.

Event will proceed regardless of weather

Despite uncertainty, organizers emphasized that the poker run will go on with plans in place for both wheeled and snowmobile groups.

The Mt. Bailey Poker Run is one of Diamond Lake’s signature winter events and raises funds for trail grooming and snowmobile club operations while offering prizes, food and a full day of recreation in the Diamond Lake area.
