Roseburg Man Charged With Murder Of 11-Month-Old Son

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — A Roseburg man is in custody and facing murder charges after authorities say he reported his 11-month-old son missing, then later confessed to killing the child and disposing of his body in the South Umpqua River.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, shortly before 10 a.m., when 27-year-old Jared Scott Jeremy Stoller of Roseburg called 9-1-1 and reported that his 11-month-old son, Jaxson, was missing from his hotel room at the Relax Inn in Sutherlin.
Sutherlin police officers responded to the call and soon determined there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the report. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team was then activated to assist with the investigation.
During an interview with detectives from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Stoller eventually confessed to killing Jaxson days earlier at a location in Roseburg, according to investigators. Authorities said Stoller told detectives he had disposed of the child’s body in the South Umpqua River.
Search efforts later led investigators to the 3500 block of Old Melrose Road, where divers with the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, assisted by boats from the Oregon State Police and Douglas County, recovered Jaxson’s body just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
The child’s body was turned over to the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office. Authorities said an autopsy is expected to take place in the coming days.
Detectives arrested Stoller and lodged him at the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:
- Murder in the First Degree
- Abuse of a Corpse in the First Degree
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has been assigned as the lead investigating agency. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team includes investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, Roseburg Police Department, and Oregon State Police, working in consultation with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.
Additional assistance in the investigation came from Douglas County Search and Rescue, Sutherlin Police Department, Winston Police Department, Myrtle Creek Police Department, and the Oregon Department of Human Services - Child Welfare Division.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said no additional details are expected to be released at this time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 541-440-4471 and reference Case #26-0836.
The official release by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office can be found here.
Tractor Supply Expected To Open Next Week In Roseburg

ROSEBURG, Ore. — Tractor Supply Company appears to be in the final stages of preparing its new Roseburg location, with visible progress at the former Big Lots building in North Roseburg Plaza.
The new store, located in the 1300 block of Northeast Stephens Street, is expected to open next week, with a soft opening planned for March 21 and a grand opening scheduled for March 28.
When The Roseburg Receiver visited the site Saturday (March 14), the company’s sign had been mounted on the building and store equipment could be seen outside. Through the windows, the inside also appeared close to ready, with shelves stocked and the store looking nearly prepared to open.
The building was previously occupied by Big Lots, which closed in 2025.
Tractor Supply sells products geared toward rural and outdoor lifestyles, including pet and livestock supplies, farm and ranch essentials, tools, hardware, lawn and garden items, workwear and seasonal merchandise.
The new Roseburg location is expected to bring about 15 jobs to the area, with at least half of those positions reported to be full-time. People interested in applying can visit Tractor Supply’s careers page.

Each meal sack will include both breakfast and lunch. Officials said children must be present at the time of pickup, and each child may receive one breakfast and one lunch per day.

Oregon Receives $224,994 Federal Grant To Support Roseburg Forest Products Workers

WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $224,994 to the state of Oregon to help provide employment and training services for workers affected by layoffs at Roseburg Forest Products’ former Dillard facility.
According to the agency, the funding will support workers displaced after Roseburg Forest Products permanently closed the southwestern Oregon mill on Sept. 25, 2025. The closure resulted in 107 layoffs and added economic strain to the surrounding area.
The grant was awarded through the department’s Employment and Training Administration as a National Dislocated Worker Grant. Officials said the funding will allow the Southwestern Oregon Workforce Investment Board to offer retraining and skills development services for impacted workers seeking assistance in Douglas County.
National Dislocated Worker Grants are funded under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The program is intended to help state and local workforce boards respond to major economic disruption events that create job losses beyond available local resources.
Federal officials said the grant is meant to provide direct support and workforce assistance to help affected workers prepare for new employment opportunities.
HIGH PRESSURE LEADING TO AFTERNOON HIGHS WELL ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH FRIDAY

High pressure building into the region will lead to afternoon high temperatures well above normal in the Umpqua Valley through Friday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the Roseburg area will have high temperatures in the low to mid-70s. The normal highs for this time of year, as measured at the Roseburg Regional Airport, are in the upper 50s. The mercury is expected to remain below the record highs for this week, which are between 78 and 81 degrees. Cooler highs are forecast to resume on Saturday.
PATRICK HULL TALKS ABOUT PLANS FOR RETIREMENT

Former Roseburg VA Medical Center Director Patrick Hull says he has been retired for approximately three weeks.
While the Veterans Administration did not issue a press release making the announcement, the VA VISN 20 Public Affairs Officer Megan Crowley has confirmed that the agency is moving forward with a recruitment process for a new leader. Crowley said that Dr. Christian Cellura, director of the VA Southern Oregon Health Care System will serve as interim administrator until a permanent replacement for Hull is named.
Hull told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 that he had been thinking of retiring for about a year. Hull said he plans to take the next three months to do some projects around the house, then will explore teaching and consulting, and will even think about getting more involved politically. He said his focus there would be on optimizing government operations and supporting veteran’s access to healthcare.
Hull spent over 33 years with the VA. That included work around the country, including in Illinois and Colorado, among other locations. Prior to coming to the Roseburg VA Health Care System in April 2023, The News Review reported that Hull served as the interim medical center director for the Western Colorado Health Care System starting in 2019, where he oversaw 1,000 employees and led the system during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hull said now it is time to explore new opportunities. He plans to remain in the Roseburg area.
