$450,000 Allocated To Support Glide Revitalization Center Project

Article by The Roseburg Receiver

GLIDE, Ore. — A $450,000 state funding allocation is expected to help move forward renovations at the Glide Revitalization Center, a project aimed at expanding community services in rural Douglas County.

According to a March 10 announcement, the funding was included in House Bill 5204 and will support improvements to the Glide Revitalization Center, a nonprofit facility in Glide that serves as a hub for local programs and resources.

Organizers say the renovated center is intended to provide space for a range of services, including affordable child care through Little Loggers, office and community space, library resources, and access to social service partners. The project is also expected to support youth development efforts, disaster case management, continuing education opportunities and economic development initiatives.

Glide Revitalization Executive Director Jeanna Beam said the funding will help transform the facility into a stronger community resource for the rural area.

The investment comes as many rural communities continue looking for ways to expand access to child care, educational support and centralized services. Supporters of the Glide project say the center is designed to meet several of those needs in one location.

The funding is expected to help advance the next phase of the renovation effort and improve long-term access to services for residents in and around Glide.

ROSEBURG AREA CHAMBER NAMES NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO

Article by KQEN News Radio

The Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Kira Zavala as its next president and chief executive officer.

The Chamber release said Zavala will officially begin her role on April 6th, bringing with her nearly a decade of chamber leadership experience and a strong track record of building partnerships that support business growth and community vitality.

Zavala most recently served as Vice President of Operations & Membership for The Chamber of Medford & Jackson County, where she spent nine years helping grow membership, strengthen regional partnerships, and lead programs designed to support local businesses. During her tenure, she played a key role in initiatives that connected employers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders across southern Oregon.

Zavala was selected following a regional search conducted by the Roseburg Chamber board of directors.

Board Chair Jami Seal said, “We are excited to welcome Kira to the Roseburg Area Chamber”. Seal said, “Her experience in chamber leadership, strong relationships throughout the region, and passion for supporting local businesses make her the right person to lead our organization into its next chapter. As our community continues to grow and evolve, we are confident that Kira’s leadership will help strengthen the Chamber’s role as a catalyst for business success and economic vitality in Douglas  County.”

Zavala said, “I am honored to join the Roseburg Area Chamber and work alongside its dedicated board, members, and community partners”. Zavala said, “Roseburg has tremendous opportunity. I look forward to listening, building strong relationships, and working together to support local businesses while strengthening the Chamber’s impact throughout the region”.

Seal said that longtime president and CEO Debra Fromdahl retired in February, but she is continuing to support the organization through a successful transition.
