FOOD FOR HOPE COMMUNITY FOOD PROJECT CONTINUES SUNDAY

Article by KQEN News Radio

The Food for Hope Community Food Project continues with a new location to support the FISH Food Pantry on Sunday.

A Douglas County Circuit Court release said H.O.P.E. Drug Court graduate phase participant Elizabeth Weist-Gray recently held a two-day food drive to benefit the FISH Food Pantry in front of Roseburg Grocery Outlet.

Weist-Gray will continue the effort this weekend at Sherm’s Thunderbird Market on Northwest Stewart Parkway in Roseburg. Weist-Gray will have a FISH Food Pantry table and donation barrel, along with a list of most-needed items, inviting community members to help replenish the pantry following the high-demand holiday season. Weist-Gray will be at Sherm’s on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Her goal with this project is 1,500 pounds and she will continue working to collect enough to surpass her goal.

The FISH Food Pantry has served Douglas County for decades, providing emergency food assistance to residents in need. As one of the area’s key hunger-relief organizations, FISH supports thousands of households each year, including seniors on fixed incomes, families with children, veterans, and individuals facing temporary hardships. Demand for food assistance in Douglas County remains consistently high, particularly during the winter months.

The Douglas County H.O.P.E. Drug Court program is preparing to celebrate its 112th graduation on Tuesday, March 31st at 5:15 p.m. The ceremony will be held in the Cascade Hall building of the fairgrounds.
