Drain Man Killed In Crash Near Yoncalla

A 33-year-old Drain man died Friday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash near Yoncalla, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency dispatchers received a 9-1-1 report at about 2:45 p.m. on March 6, 2026, after a FedEx driver came across the crash scene in the 10000 block of Elkhead Road and notified a nearby homeowner.

When deputies and emergency crews arrived, they found a white 2009 Kia Rio in a field about 200 feet off the road. Authorities said the driver, identified as Nicholas Rex Snyder of Drain, had been thrown from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash has not yet been released, and the incident remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information about what happened before the crash to call 541-440-4471 and reference case No. 26-0726.

North Douglas Fire & EMS, the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office and Lougheads Towing assisted at the scene. Officials said next of kin have been notified.
